Hey there! Welcome to Money Clarified. My name is Marn Chong, and I am passionate about all things personal finance and bringing clarity to money (hence the name Money Clarified). 

I was born and raised in Malaysia and moved to the States to pursue my degree in finance at Samford University. Upon graduation, I married my beautiful wife, Caroline, and currently reside in Birmingham, AL. I love Jesus and believe that being a good steward of resources and bringing Him glory through it is of utmost importance.

So, why start this blog? Being from another country, topics surrounding personal finance in the United States were a completely foreign concept to me. I remember when I first started working at my first job, I didn’t know what IRAs were, credit scores, taxes, insurance, or just about any personal finance topic that you could think of!

Even though I am grateful for the education and finance degree I received, stuff I learned in school was more focused on business and corporate finance (think stocks, financial analysis, and economics) rather than personal finance. Thus, I had to learn pretty much everything from the ground up. 

I read books and articles, watch countless videos, worked on client case studies, and took online courses to understand money management and finance to serve our clients better. I am also a CFA Charterholder and am working for a financial consulting firm and a wealth management firm.

As I continue to master personal finance and money management, I wanted to start this blog to document my learnings, and hopefully help clarify money in a digestible and understandable way for others as well. 

Here at Money Clarified, expect candid commentary and articles on personal finance topics like saving, debt, credit, insurance, investing, and ways to make money.
